Methodist University is a participating partner of the North Carolina Child Welfare Education Collaborative. As the first private university to be admitted, the Child Welfare Course is designed to provide practice knowledge and skills for students preparing for positions in public Child Welfare and other child serving organizations.
Students majoring or minoring in social work are encouraged to take the course. Social Work students who take the course are eligible to complete the application as a Child Welfare waiver student for the Collaborative. Students are eligible for all aspects of Child Welfare employment after the course and completion of a field Internship in Child Welfare. BSW students planning to do their four hundred (400) hour field Internship in a Public Child Welfare field placement in a North Carolina County Department of Social Services must complete the course and receive a minimum grade of “B”.
