The NC State Department of Social Work has been an active member of CWEC since the Collaborative’s inception.  NC State also offers a free monthly child welfare seminar (SW 418 for BSW students and SW 518 for MSW students) who are engaged in a Child Welfare DSS internship and are officially enrolled in the Child Welfare Education Collaborative. This monthly seminar provides an extra layer of support, as well as skill-building opportunities. These include guest Child Welfare speakers, role-plays, and Child Welfare specific case presentations.
Students that participate in the Child Welfare Education Collaborative are highly successful in securing internships in local county DSS agencies around Central and Eastern North Carolina and are routinely hired for Child Welfare jobs upon graduation. Our students are supported by one-on-one mentoring attention, additional educational opportunities, and skill-building activities and encouragement.
