The University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill

UNC-Chapel Hill School of Social Work has been an active partner with the North Carolina Child Welfare Education Collaborative since its inception in 1998. In order to capture the wide array of student interests in the field of child welfare, we offer several options for students in our MSW program to explore both direct practice and macro child welfare practice through classroom learning and field education.
We offer a Child Welfare Pre-Placement Institute each August that equips students with foundational knowledge and skills to begin a field placement in child welfare. Students also complete required field and coursework to fulfill the requirements of the Child Welfare Education Collaborative and prepare them for advanced practice in the social work field.
We encourage students to customize their educational experience in order to achieve their goals in the MSW program and in their social work careers. We look forward to talking with you further about options for involvement in the Child Welfare Education Collaborative throughout your MSW education.
